EmDash
Open-source CMS for Astro, from Cloudflare. Runs on D1, R2 and Workers.
CMS & publishing

EmDash is an open-source CMS written in TypeScript and built on Astro. The project calls itself the spiritual successor to WordPress, and it is brought to you by Cloudflare.
What it does
- A familiar admin with pages, posts, media, menus, widgets and taxonomies, plus a WordPress importer.
- Content types you define yourself, with TypeScript types generated from them.
- An MCP server, a REST API and a CLI, so scripts and AI agents can manage content too.
- Plugins that declare the permissions they need and run in sandboxes.
Good to know
- It is an Astro integration, so it runs inside your own Astro site.
- It is designed for Cloudflare (D1 for the database, R2 for media, Workers for compute). It also runs on Node.js with SQLite.
- Try it with
npm create emdash@latestor in the browser playground. - WordPress plugins and themes do not run on EmDash.
